Although Evkaf has built some new shops in Tahtakale region in Nicosia and it is a positive attempt, there is a slight problem with the policy: because new shops are going to let for rent with public auction, since the economic level of Greek Cypriots are better than Turkish Cypriots, inevitably, it means that Greek Cypriots are to rent these shops. However, same as the Orthodox Church that never rent its property to Turkish Cypriots, Evkaf must do it the same and support the Turkish Cypriot community.

Evkaf Dairesi'nin Tahtakale semtinde yeni dükkânlar inşa etmesi çok güzel bir hareket olsa dahi, ufak bir sorun var: Yeni dükkânların açık artırma ile kiralanacak olması, ister istemez, ekonomik açıdan daha iyi durumda olan Kıbrıslı Rumlarin oraları kiralaması demek olacak. Halbuki, nasıl Kilise hiçbir zaman kendi malını Kıbrıslı Türklere kiralamaz ise, Evkaf da öyle yapmalı ve Kıbrıslı Türklerin ekonomik gelişimini desteklemelidir.
